Tripura govt launches social security scheme, 30000 people to get benefit

Agartala, Nov 09: The Tripura government on Wednesday introduced a new scheme for providing social security to 30,000 people. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has launched the scheme- Mukhyamantri Samajij Sahayata Prakalpa during a beneficiary conference at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
Under this scheme, senior citizens, cancer patients, AIDS-infected persons, leprosy patients, widows, divorced women, unmarried women in 46+ age groups, unorganized workers and Divyangjans with 60 percent disability or above would be given monthly Rs. 2000, according to a government press release said.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said, the present state government believes in works, not in words. The present state government has been working for socio-economic development of the people through fulfilling the basic needs since the beginning.
He said, the state government has taken up the ‘Proti Ghare Sushasan’ campaign so that all the eligible people get the benefits of various central and state schemes. The Chief Minister said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the country in the path of development and the state government is working in the same direction.
Apart from improvement of road, rail and air connectivity, the state government is also working to develop the industrial sector in the state, he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, who also attended the programme, said the society and the government need to work shoulder to shoulder for achieving development. He said, the present state government is committed to fulfil the aspirations of the people.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, the state government is now providing various facilities to the people irrespective of political affiliation.
Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik also joined the programme and said the women are being given priority as beneficiaries in all the government schemes.
Some of the beneficiaries of various schemes- Bindu Debnath from Manubazar Mahila Cluster, fish cultivator Harinath Debbarma, Divyang swimmer Binit Roy, Swattik Chakraborty (entrepreneur) and Paramananda Sen (farmer) shared their experience in the interactive session.
Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Santana Chakma, Labour minister Bhagaban Chandra Das, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Secretary Abhishek Singh and others were present in the programme. The state government has taken an initiative to organize such beneficiary conference at block and district levels.
