Tripura Govt mulls setting up Ayurvedic College: CM

Agartala, Oct 23: The Tripura government is contemplating a plan to introduce an Ayurvedic College in the days to come, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Sunday.
Addressing the state-level 7th National Ayurveda Day programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, he said, the state’s weather is conducive for growing medicinal plants.
“There is an opportunity to expand Ayurvedic healthcare service in the state as the weather is conducive for growing medicinal plants. The state government has a plan to set up an Ayurvedic College in the state,” Dr. Saha said.
He said, the present central government is giving special priority to Ayurvedic treatment. After the formation of the new government in the centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, the Ayush Ministry was introduced. Next, the Ayush Mission was constituted to connect Ayush with the mainstream treatment facilities, he added.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Vice-Chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurved University Dr. Sushil Kumar Joshi, Additional Health Secretary and NHM Tripura Mission Director- Subhasis Das, Health director Dr. Subhashis Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine department- Dr. Radha Debbarma, and Medical Education director Dr. Harprasad Sharma were present in the programme.
