Tripura govt working for Agri growth, farmers’ welfare: Sushanta

Agartala, Nov 16: The Modi-led government has accorded priority to the holistic development of agriculture and farming communities during the last eight years of its rule – the central government took several steps for the growth of agriculture and the welfare of farmers, said Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury while inaugurating an exhibition and campaign programme at the Agriculture College auditorium in Lembuchhera on Wednesday.
The programme was organized as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav jointly by the Agartala Field Office of the Central Bureau of Communication under the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The programme highlighted several welfare measures during the last eight years of the Central government.
In his speech, Chowdhury said that during the last 8 years of rule of the BJP-led NDA government, the welfare of the people and good governance were emphasized. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, financial benefits of Rs 6,000 per year are being provided to eligible farmer families. Besides, all other steps taken in the agricultural sector in the last eight years by the Central government strengthened the confidence of the farmers in agriculture as well as the base of agriculture.
Today’s exhibition not only pointed out the achievements in agriculture but also reflected agriculture as the driving force of a new India, he said and exuded confidence that the exhibition would be able to address the different types of queries of the farmers.
Among others, Professor Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean of Fishery College in Lembuchara, Principal of Agriculture College Dr. TK Maiti, Head of Tripura Centre of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Biswajit Das, Head of Agartala Field Office of Central Bureau of Communications H.K.Chang were present in the programme.
