Agartala Nov 22: The 2-day long 27th Conference of DGsP/IGsP and Heads of CPOs of all North Eastern States commenced on Tuesday in the capital city Agartala.
Tripura Chief Minister who also holds the Home portfolio inaugurated the Conference at the Pragna Bhavan, Agartala.
DGPs IGPs and Head of CPOs of all eight north eastern states remained present at the event.
Addressing the reporters after the inaugural ceremony of the Conference, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said, “The much-awaited meeting is crucial as all states have shared an interest in combating the growing drug menace in the region which is a burning issue at present”.
“The state government is keen to modernise the police and TSR forces by providing them state of the art technology. We are in the process of procuring various kinds of software-run gadgets, machines and other necessary equipment that have now become essential for proper investigation”, he added.
According to Dr Saha, this will further improve the collaborative efforts among the police forces.
Other important issues like infiltration, Rohingyas, border fencing will also be taken up for discussion in the Conference, said Dr Saha.
Talking to the reporters, chief minister Dr Manik Saha further claimed that, ““The law-and-order situation has only seen improvement in the last four and half years. The police have taken stringent action against anti-social activities and violent crimes. The insurgency issue has been neutralized completely. And, efforts are afoot to not let this internal crisis raise its ugly head”.
Mentioning that the Conference is held after three long years because of Covid led pandemic situation in between, the chief Minister expressed gratefulness for choosing Tripura as the host for the Conference.
