Tripura logs 431 new COVID-19 cases, one more fatality

Agartala July 26: Tripura on Tuesday reported 431 new COVID-19 cases, 332 more than the previous day, according to the health department bulletin.
The death toll rose to 924 as one more person succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, it said.
Corona infection is increasing concern in Tripura. The infection has started increasing gradually since the beginning of July. Although there were no deaths in the beginning as the infection rate increased, there have been reports of deaths lately.
Even after strict instruction from the health department and the administration, the trend of disobeying COVID-19 protocols is being observed among many people. Many are reluctant to wear face masks and are seen debating over this issue with the administration officials in the capital city itself.
According to the bulletin, 431 new infections have been reported in the state in last 24 hours. The number of samples tested was 4247. The infection rate dropped slightly to 10.15 percent. Among those infected, 100 have been infected in West District. After that, 94 people were infected in South District, 60 in Gomati, 46 in North District, 42 in Unakoti, 38 in Dhalai, 27 in Sipahijala District and 24 in Khowai.
Currently the number of active patients in the state is 2310.
Concerns are growing among health experts as the number of infections increases. Demands are being raised for stricter restrictions along with increased testing.
