Tripura Man detained for offensive content against Assam Chief Minister

Police at Santirbazar station detained local content creator Shipul Majumder of Ganjertila on Saturday after he posted a video containing derogatory remarks against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to police, Majumder has been regularly uploading content on social media and, in an attempt to gain quick popularity, made objectionable comments targeting the Assam CM. The video quickly drew attention, prompting authorities to act.

During questioning, Majumder admitted the video was made “in a storytelling style” and expressed regret. He publicly apologized, even performing sit-ups at the police station to show remorse, and pledged not to make such offensive remarks again.

Police have registered the matter and are examining what further action will be taken against him. The incident has sparked discussion locally about the responsibility of content creators and the consequences of crossing the line on social platforms.
