Tripura: Man held with fake Indian currency

Kanchanpur Nov 17: Man hailing from Kanchanpur sub-division in Tripura was arrested on Thursday with fake Indian currency of Rs 6.50 lakh which was purportedly printed outside the country.
The arrested person has been identified as Binoy Ram Reang around 41 years of age, a resident of Falgunjoy Para in Satnala Dangachara area under Kanchanpur sub-division.
Detailing the incident, Police of Kancharpur police station said, “Following an information from secret sources, police and Assam Rifles personnel led by SDPO, drove into an ambush, to nab the culprits of fake currency”.
Since the early hours of Thursday, a search was carried out at the residence of the detained person.
“The search recovered Rs 6.50 lakh fake Indian currency notes”, added the police officials.
A case has been registered against the detained person with Case No.62/22 under sections 498A/48 of IPC.
Police added that the detained was produced before the Kanchanpur Divisional Court on Thursday seeking police remand for further investigation into the case.
