Agartala, May 18: Tripura Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy on Thursday called for involvement of youth in growing business in the state.
The minister was speaking in the 47th Students’ Annual Exhibition here at Agartala Government College of Art and Craft.
Addressing the gathering of the students and faculties of the college the minister stressed on the need of commercialization of the art and craft being designed by the students of the college. “The faculties of the college are required to focus on the commercialization of the crafts of the college with a quality packaging, which perhaps will generate employment opportunities,” he said.
He said, “At present there is a crisis of good packaging for the creative designs being made by the artists of the state. In this case we should focus on packaging whenever we organize exhibitions for our state products so that we can ease the buyers in carrying our products abroad.”
“At a time when the state of Tripura is very rich in natural resources, there is an adequate scope of growing business in the state with large involvement of youths,” he said, adding that the youths of the state may switch over their mindset from desiring for government jobs to get involved in business in the state by accessing the natural resources.
The minister on Thursday cited the scope of growing business in the rubber sector of the state and said, “There is a need for larger participation of skilled youths for adequate commercialization of rubber being produced in our state. Similarly, we can grow business with the incense sticks with the participation of skilled youths and hence we can enhance the export of the products.”
On the other hand, the minister found the necessity of establishing a permanent art gallery in the college and said, “Establishing a permanent art gallery in the college campus which is adjacent to the Elbert Ekka Park, can draw tourist attractions, because the people who visits the park can climb up towards the college campus to access the arts and craft designing by the college students, where the designs can also be put on sale for the tourists of the state and abroad.”
