Agartala, Jan 24: Tripura leader of opposition Manik Sarkar on Tuesday urged the voters to ensure the defeat of the ruling BJP party in the ensuing assembly election and restore democracy in the state.
Sarkar was addressing a party gathering at Jirania in Majlishpur assembly constituency on Tuesday. He said, “The democracy which was brought to stake by the ruling BJP party during the last five years is required to be restored.”
“The BJP, which adopted the policies against people is not going to retain power this time because of its misdeeds in the past 58 months,” he said, adding that the BJP brought a very miserable condition to the state, where the people are deprived at large from their democratic rights.
Claiming massive people’s support to the CPI(M) in Jirania, the leader of opposition on Tuesday said, “The BJP thought that the CPI(M) party has been vanished in Jirania sub-division, which perhaps went wrong as the people of this region showed their support to the CPI(M) party in today’s meeting.”
He however urged for larger participation of voters in the ensuing assembly election so that the fascistic BJP is defeated.
