Agartala Jan 18: As the state assembly elections were announced on Wednesday, SDPO Sadar said that police would act tough in terms of anti-narcotic operations to ensure peaceful elections.
Briefing the media on anti-narcotic operations held on Monday late night, Sadar SDPO Ajay Kumar Das said, “In two separate incidents police nabbed two drug peddlers with huge cache of drugs”.
“In the first case, in an operation led by West Agartala PS OC Jayanta Kumar Deb along with Ramnagar outpost police detained one Sukesh Majumder from Lankamura area. Police recovered 76 strips of banned Tramadol tablets and 18 gms of yaba tablets were recovered from his possession”, he said.
In a separate operation, based of information received from secret sources police team in civil dress nabbed another drug peddler named Binoy Das from his residence at Jogendranagar Katashala area. Search revealed approximately 28 gms of brown sugar from the accused’s residence.
Besides, Police also recovered a hookah, inhaler and MT vials from the residence of the accused drug peddler.
Meanwhile SDPO Ajay Kumar Das while talking on ensuing polls in Tripura said, "Sadar sub-divisional police administration is committed to ensure peaceful and violence free polls in the state”.
“As the election schedule was announced on Wednesday afternoon, Model Code of Conduct is already applicable here and police will be on constant vigil to ensure zero tolerance to any sort of criminal activity”, he said.
Das further added, “14 Naka points have already been activated in the Sadar sub-division and there will be more vigorous checking, night patrolling across the capital city”.
