Tripura Police Week: CM Manik Saha stresses need for stronger enforcement against narcotics

The spotlight at Police Week 2026 was not only on the staggering seizure of narcotics worth Rs 1,641 crore over the past year, but also on the state government’s push to modernize policing infrastructure and strengthen operational efficiency.

At the parade held in AD Nagar’s Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium, marking the onset of Tripura Police Week 2026, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha acknowledged that while drug seizures have doubled compared to previous years, trafficking incidents remain a persistent challenge. He emphasized that the fight against narcotics must continue with greater determination, calling it one of the state’s most pressing law-and-order concerns.

Beyond the drug menace, the Chief Minister highlighted significant improvements in overall law and order, citing reductions in border-related offences and other crimes. He praised Tripura Police for their role in crime control, road safety, and maintaining public trust.

The event also showcased the government’s commitment to modernization:

114 motorcycles and 22 vehicles were handed over to police stations to improve mobility.

81 officers and personnel were honoured for outstanding service.

A blood donation camp was organized, reflecting the humanitarian spirit of the force.

Dr. Saha paid tribute to police personnel who sacrificed their lives in duty, reaffirming that the state remains indebted to their service. He expressed confidence that Tripura Police would continue to uphold professionalism, honesty, and efficiency in the days ahead.
