Agartala, Feb 03: Bharatiya Janata Party national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, who addressed two election rallies in Tripura on Friday, said the Congress and Communists are contesting polls for their existence but BJP is fighting for development.
Addressing a public rally at PWD ground in Kumarghat, he said, "Both the Congress and CPM are fighting for their existence through alliance."
He said, the double-engine government has changed the entire picture in Tripura.
To continue with this development journey, Nadda appealed to the people to vote for BJP in the ensuing Assembly Polls.
He said that Tripura was once a place of insurgency, strikes, and terrorism but under the BJP rule, Tripura has become prosperous.
Addressing the rally, he hailed the union budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The budget for tribal groups has been increased four times, he said.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in his short speech appealed to the people to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi's hand by electing the BJP nominated candidates.
Later in a Social Media post, he commented, "The bond between BJP & Tripura is unbreakable. The people are happy with the works of double-engine govt & they are showing immense support to Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji. The sea of people during J.P.Nadda ji's rally at Pabiacherra is sounding the BJP’s massive win."
BJP candidates- Sudhanshu Das, Tinku Roy, Dilip Tanti were present.
