Tripura receives Rs. 166 cr under Jal Jeevan Mission

The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti has released grant-in-aid of Rs.166.74 crore for Tripura for implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission.
Minister for DWS Sushanta Chowdhury shared the update on social media and extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekwat for releasing the fund.
Chowdhury commented, the state government is committed to ensure piped drinking water facility to around 7.5 lakhs rural households under the Jal Jeevan Mission. According to Chowdhury, around 4 lakh households have already been provided free drinking water facility.
Meanwhile, a government press release said, as many as 3,90,473 houses have already been given free water connection in rural Tripura under the scheme- Jal Jeevan Mission. Among them, 3499 households have been given free water connections from July 1 to July 26.
The figure included 573 connections in North Tripura, 557 in West Tripura, 168 in Unakoti district, 459 in Sepahijala, 851 in Dhalai district, 525 in Gomati district, 189 in Khowai district and 177 in South Tripura district.
Meanwhile, Chowdhury has been working with full force to ensure timely completion of the project; a target has been set to cover all households by December this year.
