State Animal Resource Development, Fisheries and SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das has hailed the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for its performance in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, claiming the results reflect the growing support of India’s youth for nationalism and the vision of a developed India.
In a Facebook Live broadcast on Saturday, Das congratulated ABVP activists after the organisation secured three of the four central posts in the DUSU elections. ABVP’s Yash Dabas was elected president, Riya Chhawdi secretary, and Lakshya Raj Singh joint secretary, while independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice‑president’s post.
Das argued that the outcome demonstrated a rejection of what he described as the “politics of lies” associated with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and instead showed alignment of students with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’. He stressed that Delhi University, often called “Mini India” because of its diverse student population, makes the results nationally significant.
The minister also criticised Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in Indore, questioning its appeal among students. He alleged that the Congress and opposition parties were attempting to influence Gen Z through “false propaganda,” while noting that the Congress’s student wing, the NSUI, failed to secure any of the four central posts.
Das extended his criticism to Communist parties and opposition groups, using terms such as “Urban Naxals” and “intellectual Naxals,” accusing them of undermining nationalism and India’s cultural traditions. He urged young people to remain vigilant against “forthcoming conspiracies and propaganda,” citing Swami Vivekananda to encourage youth to move forward with positivity and contribute to nation‑building.
Concluding his address, Das congratulated the newly elected DUSU office‑bearers and expressed hope that they would work for students’ welfare while strengthening the country’s future.
