Tripura schools reeling under acute teacher shortage

Jolaibari July 28: Time and again, report of pathetic situation in various schools of the state has been received, especially from schools in rural areas of the state. The most prominent problem reported among several others is acute shortage of teachers.
One such report has been received once again from Paschim Pilak HS+2 School in Jolaibari.
Reportedly there are only two teachers in the entire school and senior class students are teaching junior classes because of extreme shortage of teachers.
On being asked by reporters, a class-5 student Ayan Datta said, “I have taken classes of Math and English in Class-1 and 2. I taught them multiplication table and English alphabets”.
Another student of Class-5 Manojit Debnath said, “I took class in Class3 and 4. I taught them poem, spelling etc. many of my friends are doing the same”.
On being asked about this, a teacher of the school said, “Everyone at the upper layer is aware about the problems in the school. It is true that we send senior class students to take classes of junior classes as there is no other option”.
He added. There are only two teachers in the entire school. And if any day, anyone of them takes leave, only one teacher has to maintain all the classes.
The teacher further added, earlier there were 6 teachers in the school, but after termination of 10,323 teachers, the school has only 2 teachers now.
