Tripura sees 3.15 pc rise in tourist arrivals in FY 2025-26: Tourism minister tells House

Tripura registered a 3.15 percent rise in tourist arrivals in the FY 2025-26, compared to the previous year, Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury informed the state assembly on Thursday.

The monsoon session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly commenced on Thursday.

On the first day, the Tourism minister presented his statement in response to questions raised by MLA Tofajjal Hossain and MLA Antara Sarkar Deb.

Chowdhury said, in 2023-24, a total of 5,45,299 tourists-- including 4,69,328 domestic and 75,971 international-- arrived in the state.

In the year 2024-25, the state recorded arrivals of 7,07,173 tourists-- 6,27,705 domestic and 79,468 international.

Besides, the total number of tourists in the state was 7,29,414, including 7,10,243 domestic and 19,171 international.

Chowdhury said, the tourist arrival in the state had increased by 3.15 percent, as compared to the previous year 2024-25.

Further taking part in the discussions, he informed the assembly that around 12 new small and medium tourism infrastructure projects were developed. 

He also said, works for 5 major projects worth Rs. 400 crore were underway. These projects include 51 Shakti Peetha Park at Banduar in Udaipur, Chabimura, Narkelkunja, Sonamukhi in Unakoti and Jirania Park.

Replying to a supplementary question raised by MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Chowdhury said, 4 small and medium project locations fall under the TTAADC. He also said, there was no plan to hand over the tourism projects developed by the state government to the TTAADC.
