Tripura set to host G20 summit, CM reviews preparations

Agartala, Mar 30: Tripura is all set to host the first-ever G20 summit of the state commencing from April 3 next.
As the summit will bring the world to Tripura, the important locations of the state have been given a colourful look with illuminations and wall painting.
‘Clean energy for a greener future’ is the theme for the G20 Science event scheduled to be held at Hapania international fair ground, Agartala on April 3 and 4 next.
To make the mega event successful, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday chaired a meeting along with the high officials to review the preparations.
“Tripura is excited to welcome the delegates from around the world in the #G20 summit, scheduled to be held at Hapania intl fair ground, Agartala on 3rd & 4th April. In view of the mega event, today held a meeting at the Secretariat & reviewed the overall preparations,” the Chief Minister mentioned in a social media post.
The Chief Minister emphasized on beautifying the places where the delegation would visit and also to keep them clean.
Taking part in the discussions, Secretary of Industries and Commerce department Abhishek Chandra said the main event would take place at the indoor exhibition hall of Hapania international fair ground.
The G20 delegation would arrive in the state on April 2 and then visit Albert Ekka Memorial Park at Lichubagan and musical fountain at Kumari Tilla, he said.
On the next day, the first session of the summit ‘Science-20’ would be held at the Hapania indoor exhibition hall at 9 am. In the second session, inauguration of the exhibition stalls, press conference and investors’ meet are scheduled to be held. A cultural programme followed by light and sound show would be organized at Ujjayanta Palace at the evening.
The secretary said, a Yoga session would be held at Oxygen Park on April 4 (6 am onwards) with the participation of the delegates. Besides, a plantation drive would also be held. They would also visit Purbasha, Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary and Neermahal on the same day.
Addressing the meeting, the Secretary also stated that the Maharaja Bir Bikram airport, Agartala has been decorated beautifully to welcome the delegates. Both sides of the road from the airport to Hotel Polo Towers have been illuminated with colourful lights and artworks.
Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Principal Secretary of Revenue department Puneet Agarwal, Secretary of ICA department P.K. Chakraborty and PCCF K.S. Sethi, police chief Amitabh Ranjan and other officials were present in the meeting.
