Tripura Start-Up Week: CM asks students to become self-reliant with IT opportunities

Agartala, Oct 19: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday encouraged the students to achieve the goal of self-reliance by taking the opportunities of growing IT sector.
Dr. Saha, who launched 'Tripura Start-Up Week' in a programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan organized by the Directorate of Information Technology, said there is a conducive atmosphere in Tripura including connectivity and power supply for development of IT industry. Besides, the literacy rate in Tripura is 97.22 per cent.
As both the central and the state governments want to make everyone self-reliant, the IT sector can play a significant role, the Chief Minister said, adding that the state has every potential to set an example towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India campaign.
Dr. Saha also launched New Generation Innovation Network and Tripura IT/ITeS Policy-2022 in the programme.
The project aims at creating an ecosystem to promote innovation in technical institutions and to bring them within the start-up ecosystem. The students would identify the local problems and then they would be encouraged to find out technological solutions to solve them. At present, the project covers four technical institutions.
In the Start-Up India Portal, 50 start-ups from Tripura have got registration so far. Among them, 13 start-ups got registered in Tripura IT/ITeS scheme.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and other dignitaries also attended the inaugural programme where the Chief Minister handed over financial assistance (cheaques) to two entrepreneurs. At the end of the programme, the Chief Minister and others also inspected various models exhibited as part of the Tripura start-up week.
