Tripura students return after 13-day ISRO Young Scientist Programme in Ahmedabad

 Fourteen meritorious students from Tripura returned to the state on Saturday after successfully completing the 13-day Young Scientist Programme (Yuva Vigyani Karyakram 2026) at the ISRO Space Applications Centre (SAC) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The students had left the state on May 10 to participate in the prestigious programme after being selected through a competitive screening process. 

The participants represented several reputed schools across Tripura and earned the opportunity to attend the national-level scientific initiative organized by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Upon their arrival at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala, the students were greeted with warm congratulations and appreciation for their achievement.

Among them was Snigdhalata Ghosh, a Class X student of PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sepahijala, and the only participant from Sepahijala district selected for the programme.

Speaking to the media, Snigdhalata described the experience as both inspiring and unforgettable.

“We feel truly proud to have represented Tripura at a prestigious institution like ISRO. Interacting with eminent scientists, gaining exposure to advanced scientific research, and participating in hands-on activities were extraordinary experiences,” she said.

She further shared that the participants had the opportunity to build and launch rockets and create robotic models similar to Pragyan, the rover associated with India’s lunar mission, entirely through practical learning sessions.

According to her, the programme also included visits to various ISRO research centres, significantly expanding the students’ scientific knowledge and understanding of space technology.

Expressing hope for the future, Snigdhalata said that more talented students from smaller states like Tripura should receive opportunities to visit premier space research institutions and gain similar exposure.
