Tripura Transport dept sets target to collect revenue over Rs 120 cr

Agartala, April 14: The Transport department has set a target of generating revenue worth over Rs 121 crore in the 2023-24 FY, said Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
In an attempt to make the service of the transport department more public friendly a review meeting was held at the conference hall of Gitanjali guest house on Thursday in which Chowdhury along with Secretary of Transport Department Uttam Kumar Chakma, Transport Commissioner Subrata Chowdhury, Director of MBB Airport KC Meena, Area Manager of North Eastern Railway T Kumar and other department officials were present.
In the review meeting, air, railways, road and waterways were discussed in detail. Air service between Agartala and Chittagong will be started in the coming days. Spicejet has got the responsibility to provide the service.
This government is following the path of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the Transport Minister said.
In the meeting, Sushanta Chowdhury said that three heliports will be constructed at Matabari, Narkelkunj and Vanghmun. For this, the department has to prepare DPR. He said the government is thinking of modernizing the 52 motor stands in the state. In the last financial year, the transport department collected a total revenue of Rs 115 crore 64 lahks. In the current financial year 2023-24, this department has a target of collecting revenue of Rs 121 crore 41 lahks.
