Tripura University library rally seeks to put reading back on campus agenda

tripura university library rally seeks to put reading back on campus agenda

Books, research material and the quiet pursuit of knowledge took centre stage at Tripura University as its Central Library organised an awareness rally on the campus to encourage students to read more and engage more deeply with research.

The rally was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Debabrata Das, besides members of the university’s academic fraternity and officials.

The initiative was aimed at drawing students’ attention to the role of the library in university life — not simply as a place to borrow books but as a resource for learning, research and academic exploration.

Prof. Das’s participation and encouragement were instrumental in organising the programme, the university said.

University Librarian Dr Champeswar Mishra coordinated the rally with the Central Library team. Faculty members and university officials also took part in the event.

The organisers sought to use the rally to spread awareness about the importance of developing a regular reading habit and cultivating an environment in which research becomes an integral part of campus life.

For a university, the library remains a key link between classroom teaching and independent academic inquiry. Access to books, journals and other scholarly resources allows students and researchers to move beyond prescribed course material and engage with wider bodies of knowledge.

The awareness programme was therefore designed to encourage members of the university community to make fuller use of the Central Library’s academic resources.

The rally also underscored the university’s efforts to strengthen its academic environment by promoting reading and research among students and scholars.

The participation of senior university officials and members of the teaching community was intended to reinforce the message that reading and research are central to higher education.

The Central Library team coordinated the programme as part of its efforts to increase awareness of library resources and encourage their use by the university community. Do the same.
