With the ADC Village Committee elections scheduled for September 28, preparations are in full swing in Mandai RD Block, where polling staff and security personnel cast their votes in advance. The special voting session began at 10:00 AM on Monday and continued until 4:00 PM, with another round scheduled for Tuesday.

Mandai Block BDO and Returning Officer informed the media that 53 ballots were arranged for election staff, including 40 votes for police and TSR personnel and 13 votes for polling officials and other staff engaged in election duties. By midday, around 20 voters were seen waiting in line outside the polling station, reflecting steady participation.

A distinctive feature of the exercise was that the entire polling centre was managed exclusively by women officials and staff, making it a fully women‑operated voting station. Authorities noted that the process was conducted smoothly and peacefully with full cooperation from all involved.

Providing details on the broader election preparations, the Returning Officer revealed that 332 nomination papers were filed in Mandai Block, of which two were rejected, leaving 330 valid nominations. Among these, 141 candidates have already been elected unopposed, while 125 candidates remain in the fray.

On September 28, voting will take place across 27 polling stations in Mandai Block, covering 57 seats. The contesting candidates include 8 from BJP, 40 from CPI(M), 55 from Tipra Motha, 1 from IPFT, and 21 independents.

The Returning Officer assured that all necessary arrangements have been made for both the staff voting and the main election day. Monday’s polling was reported to be peaceful and orderly, with similar expectations for Tuesday’s session and the upcoming general vote.
