
A pall of grief has descended on Kanchanmala in North Tripura following the tragic and mysterious death of 20-year-old Ramzan Mia, whose body was recovered in a mutilated state from a railway track in Odisha on Wednesday morning.

Ramzan, the youngest son of day labourer Sona Mia, had left for Chennai six months ago in search of work to support his family. He was reportedly returning home by train when the incident occurred. Authorities discovered his body on the tracks, split under the wheels of a train, leading to shock and sorrow among his family and community.

News of the death reached his home in Kanchanmala early Wednesday, plunging his father and relatives into inconsolable grief. Local residents gathered at the family’s home to offer condolences and seek details of the tragedy.

Speaking to the media, Sona Mia, devastated by the loss of his youngest son, appealed to the government for assistance in bringing Ramzan’s body back to Tripura for the last rites. He revealed that Ramzan was one of his five sons and had gone to Chennai to help shoulder the family’s financial burden.

The incident has cast a shadow of mourning across the entire Kanchanmala area, with residents expressing solidarity with the bereaved family and urging authorities to extend immediate support.
