
Anita Tripura from Dhalai district of Tripura scripted a historic by winning a bronze in the Senior National Kuras Championship.
Tripura Sports Minister Tinku Roy on Friday congratulated Anita for her achievement in the 44 kg category at the 15th Senior National Kuras Championship held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
In a message, Roy said this is the first time in Tripura’s Kuras history that a sportsperson from the state has secured a medal at the Senior National level.
Praising Anita’s achievement, the Sports Minister highlighted that she comes from a humble and struggling family but reached the national podium through sheer determination, hard work and self-confidence.
He also noted that Anita’s bronze medal win came after defeating strong opponents from states like Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal, calling the performance “extraordinary”.
The minister further recalled that Anita had earlier showcased her talent by winning a silver medal in a competition organised by the School Games Federation of India.
Calling the achievement a matter of pride for the entire state, Roy said Anita’s success would inspire the next generation of athletes in Tripura.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Anita for achieving greater success in the future.
