Tripura's InstaWater reaches remote flood-hit villages in Assam with clean drinking water

In a significant humanitarian initiative, InstaWater, an innovative portable water purification technology developed by a startup incubated at Tripura University, has successfully reached some of the most remote flood-affected villages in Assam’s Sivasagar district, providing safe drinking water to communities impacted by the ongoing floods.

The relief operation covered the remote villages of Barhoiting Nagaon and Banmukh Patorgaon, where access to potable water had become a major challenge due to widespread flooding. Using InstaWater’s patented mobile water purification systems, the team produced clean drinking water on-site from locally available water sources, eliminating the need to transport bottled water over long distances.

The initiative was carried out with the valuable support and coordination of the Sivasagar district administration, whose assistance enabled the relief team to access difficult-to-reach locations and serve affected families efficiently.

Expressing his sentiments, Prof. Harjeet Nath, Founder of InstaWater and Assistant Professor at Tripura University, said, “It is immensely satisfying to see our indigenous technology making a real difference during emergencies. Our mission has always been to ensure that no community is deprived of safe drinking water during disasters. InstaWater’s portable water purification systems have been specifically designed for disaster response, rural communities, and emergency situations, enabling rapid deployment and immediate production of safe drinking water directly at the point of need.

The successful deployment in Sivasagar once again demonstrates the potential of indigenous innovations developed in academic institutions to address critical humanitarian challenges and strengthen disaster resilience across the country.
