
The vibrant atmosphere during the Unity Promo Fest 2025, inaugurated at Vanghmun village on Friday evening, infused a new energy into the Jampui Hills region, one of the key tourist destinations in Tripura.
Minister for Agriculture Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the fest in the presence of Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Industries and Commerce minister Santana Chakma.
The Unity Promo Fest is not only about entertainment; it has evidently become a major driver of local economic activity. With tourist inflow rising sharply, the fest is also promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Unity Promo Fest 2025 at Vanghmun, the Agriculture minister said that the state government aims to position Tripura as one of India’s finest tourism destinations.
The minister also inaugurated the newly renovated Eden Tourist Lodge at Jampui Hills and highlighted how the first Promo Fest was launched in 2024 to showcase Tripura’s vast tourism potential nationally and internationally.
This year, the fest is being held on a larger scale across six major tourism locations—Narikelkunj, Belonia, Udaipur, Jampui Hills, Neermahal and Agartala. The key event will be held at Swami Vivekananda Stadium, where Bollywood sensation Jubin Nautiyal will perform live on December 12.
Nath stressed that tourism is a global engine of economic growth, contributing significantly to revenue generation and employment. The Promo Fest aims to expand Tripura’s tourism footprint, strengthen cultural harmony, promote homestay registration for self-reliance, and highlight the state’s rich heritage.
Sharing data, the minister said tourist arrival has increased from 4,19,807 in 2016–17 to 7,07,173 in 2024–25, with foreign tourist numbers nearly doubling. He also noted the major infrastructure improvements in Kanchanpur sub-division, including 50 km of national highway, 42.12 km of state roads, and 57.52 km of rural roads, significantly boosting accessibility to Jampui Hills.
Under developmental schemes, 2,151 beneficiaries in the Jampui RD Block have been covered under PMAY-G and PM-Janman since 2018, water connections have reached 2,161 households, and 1,386 PHH families are receiving free ration.
North Tripura Zilla Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath, MLA Philip Kumar Reang, Tourism Secretary U.K. Chakma and other dignitaries joined the celebrations adding to the festive ambiance that has transformed Jampui Hills into a hub of unity and culture.
