TRLM hosts National Conference and CXO Meet on Industry 5.O to drive DDU-GKY 2.O in Tripura

The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), in partnership with the Department of Rural Studies, Tripura University, has organised a two-day programme designed to strengthen skill development and industry linkages under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana (DDU-GKY 2.0). 

The event combined a National Conference on “Industries 5.0: Skill India to Start Up India” on August 11 with a CXO Meet on August 12, creating a platform for academia, industry, and government to collaborate on shaping the future of rural employment.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Debabrata Das, Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, who emphasised the importance of building bridges between education, industry, and skill development institutions. 

Day one featured paper presentations and academic deliberations from scholars representing institutions such as the Indo Bangal Chamber of Commerce (Tripura Chapter), Rabindra Bharati University, Bankura University, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Tripura University, and Tezpur University. Discussions centred on emerging trends in Industry 5.0, entrepreneurship, and the evolving demands of the labour market.

Day two shifted focus to the CXO Meet, where representatives from more than 20 organisations — including NSDC Guwahati, SIPARD, Tripura Rubber Board, ILS Hospitals, NSE, V-Mart, PRAN Food & Beverages, Jain Udyog, Hotel Airdrop, Hotel Noah Spire, and Vision Plus Security — engaged in dialogue with TRLM officials and DDU-GKY Project Implementing Agencies. 

Panel discussions explored industry requirements, employability, and opportunities for sustainable employment, while employers highlighted the need for training programmes that align closely with market realities.

The closing ceremony, attended by TRLM CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, underscored the mission’s commitment to ushering in a new era of skilling for rural youth. 

Chakma stressed that expanding skill development initiatives could transform livelihoods and strengthen Tripura’s economic base. Certificates and awards were presented to paper contributors, recognising their role in advancing the dialogue.

Organisers noted that the two-day programme demonstrated the value of a strong industry–academia partnership in creating sustainable employment opportunities.

By bringing employers, policymakers, and educators together, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between training and industry demand, ensuring that DDU-GKY 2.0 delivers placement-oriented skills for rural youth.
