The dreams and aspirations of thousands of women associated with self-help groups (SHGs) in Tripura found a symbolic place at one of the world’s highest peaks when noted mountaineer Aritra Roy carried the logo of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) to the summit of Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, South America, earlier this year.
Roy proudly flew the TRLM logo atop Mount Aconcagua in January, turning the expedition into a powerful message of determination, ambition and empowerment for the state’s SHG women, popularly known as ‘SHG Didis’.
The achievement was highlighted by TRLM in its official social media handle, which expressed heartfelt gratitude to Roy for carrying the mission’s identity and the aspirations of Tripura’s SHG community to the summit.
“From the hills of Tripura to the heights of Aconcagua and Everest,” TRLM said, the spirit of ‘Soaring High’ continues to inspire people across the state.
Roy has also created a landmark in Tripura’s mountaineering history by becoming the first person from the state to scale Mount Everest last year. His achievements have emerged as a source of inspiration for young people and communities across Tripura.
According to TRLM, the sight of its logo flying high on Aconcagua represented more than a mountaineering accomplishment—it carried the dreams, aspirations and determination of the state’s SHG women, conveying the message that there should be no limits to what they can aspire to achieve.
