The vision of self-reliance often takes shape through small but impactful initiatives, and one such example is unfolding under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM).Â
Â
Since November 16, the Kalyanpur Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) has been conducting a special training program in bag-making at the Joydeep View office near Soronjoy Choudhury Para School in West Ghilatali Gram Panchayat.
Â
A group of 30 enthusiastic women have come together, setting aside household and external responsibilities, to focus wholeheartedly on learning the craft of bag-making. Their determination reflects a growing aspiration for economic independence and empowerment.
Â
At the training site, women from diverse backgrounds were seen working attentively under the guidance of a master trainer from Manu, Dhalai district. TRLM officials present at the venue emphasized that such initiatives pave the way for genuine self-reliance, gradually reshaping society.
Â
Participants expressed confidence that the skills acquired will help them become self-sufficient in the future. They also voiced hope that the government and administration will continue to support them beyond training, ensuring that their newfound expertise translates into sustainable livelihoods.
Â
However, this is not the first effort by TRLM’s Kalyanpur unit. The mission has previously organized programs in candle-making and other income-generating activities, steadily advancing its goal of empowering women across the region.
