TRLM's Unakoti DMMU hosts buyer-seller meet

Under the initiative of Unakoti District Mission Management Unit of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), a Buyer Seller Meet was organised at the District Magistrate’s conference hall on Monday to promote market linkage for products made by Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

Interacting with the media persons, District Magistrate Megha Jain stressed the need for proper market access to ensure real women’s empowerment through economic self-reliance. 

More than 60 participants, including Self-Help Group (SHG) women entrepreneurs and prospective buyers, attended the event. SHG members showcased a wide range of locally produced products, attracting significant interest from buyers for procurement and future business collaborations.

The District Magistrate urged local traders and citizens to support SHG products by facilitating their sale in shops and markets.

Products displayed at the meet included soap, green tea, sanitary pads, toys, garments, water hyacinth bags, bamboo shoots, pineapple, baby corn and cleaning materials produced by SHG women.

The DM said the district administration has set up an aggregation centre and sales outlets to improve marketing of SHG products. She also highlighted the recently launched ‘Sampanna’ cafe and marketing centre at Kumarghat, where fresh vegetables produced by SHGs are being sold.

Officials informed that detailed information, including product details and contact numbers, will soon be uploaded on the district website to enable direct buyer-seller connectivity.

According to official sources, the interaction provided a valuable platform for direct engagement between producers and buyers, facilitating market linkages and promoting locally made products. 

A roadmap was also prepared to strengthen local sales channels and enhance market access for SHG-produced goods, contributing to sustainable livelihoods and rural economic development in the district.
