TSF seeks central varsity in TTAADC
 Independent Students’ outfit TSF–Twipra Students Federation, a constituent of the NESO–on Friday met Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu and placed a charter of demands consisting of socio-economic, political and educational issues. The TSF delegation was led by Vice President of the students’ body John Debbarma. Speaking to media persons, Debbarma said, “The governor gave us a patient hearing. All our issues had been discussed and in certain points we have explained at length as to why what is being asked for is actually justified. The Governor heard us and said that he would put up the issues flagged by us before the Chief Minister for his consideration.”Â
On being asked about specifics of their demands, he said, “As a student body we have demanded a central tribal university in the TTAADC areas so that our students can pursue higher education in their own area.” It also pitched for a constitutional solution for the tribal population of the state. “We need greater legislative and political rights. For instance, the land rights need to be ensured for the landless tribal people. We need special recruitment drives to make sure that the backlogs in different departments are cleared. In addition, TTAADC needs more financial and legislative authority so that policy making for people becomes easier,”he added.Â
