TTAADC: Re-polling ordered in two additional booths on April 16

The State Election Commission has directed fresh polling in two booths under the 10-Kulai-Champhahour (ST) constituency of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), citing irregularities reported during the election process.

In an official communication, the Commission stated that re-polling will take place at 3-Bhatimaydan SB School and 17-Ramdev Thakur Para polling stations. The decision follows scrutiny of reports submitted by the District Election Officer, the Returning Officer and other officials associated with the conduct of the polls.

The reports flagged certain discrepancies and incidents during voting hours, which the Commission deemed serious enough to affect the sanctity of the electoral process. Acting on these findings, the Commission annulled the earlier polling in the two booths and ordered a fresh exercise.

Earlier on the day of polling, re-poll was ordered in one polling station of the Pekerjaan-Janmejoynagar TTAADC constituency. In total, re-poll will be held in three booths across the state.

As per the schedule announced, the repoll will be conducted on April 16 from 7 am to 4 pm.

Officials said arrangements are being put in place to ensure that the voting process is conducted in a peaceful, transparent and impartial manner. Security deployment will be strengthened in and around the polling stations to prevent any disruption and to instil confidence among voters.

The Commission has also urged political parties, candidates and voters to cooperate in maintaining order and ensuring that the repoll is completed without any disturbance.

The TTAADC elections, which play a key role in the administration of tribal areas in the state, have generally witnessed steady participation, though a few pockets reported disturbances necessitating corrective measures.
