Agartala Jan 08: Tripura TET teachers’ Welfare Association on Sunday demanded the state government to repeal ‘fixed-pay policy’ in recruitment of TET qualified teachers at the earliest.
TTWA organized its first state level Convention at NSRCC Hall in Netaji Chowmani area of the capital city here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the teachers appointed after qualifying in Teachers’ Eligibility Test in Tripura protested against appointing them in fixed pay instead of regular scale.
“The first batch of TET qualified teachers were appointed in the month of December, 2017 and were given a monthly fixed pay of Rs 7,970 only. Today what is more punishing is that most of us have been posted in far flung places like Dharmanagar in extreme North, Sabroom and Belonia and other nooks and corners of the state and a major part of our salary which is barely around Rs16,000-Rs2000 is spent in transportation and rent. How will we support our families”, he said.
Speaking to the reporters, Ajoy Pal, Secretary TTWA said, “The general policy theory is not at all acceptable and it can’t be applied in case of TET educated teachers”.
“We fulfilled all conditions for appointment as teacher. We have 50% marks having B Ed degree and qualified in TET examinations. After that the government has no right to tell us to work as fixed pay employees”, he added.
The teachers further mentioned that Tripura is the lone exception where TET qualified teachers were appointed in a fixed pay.
Speaking from the Convention, the teachers demanded the state government to immediately repeal the ‘Fixed Pay Policy’ in case of appointment of TET teachers’ in Tripura.
Talking in the context of 1st State Level Convention of TTWA, Ajoy Pal said, “It is for the first time when the organization is holding a state level convention since its formation on December 03, 2017”.
Apart from this, State Level Committee as well as District and Sub-division level committee of TTWA was announced in the day’s program.
