Agartala Mar 10: Tulamura Primary Health Centre under Gomati District secured the top position in the Kayakalp Award in the State. The PHC obtained the highest number 97.7% this year and got the first rank to become the Kayakalp the Best PHC Award. Tulamura PHC has won this award for the last three consecutive years.
Being the topper, Tulamura PHC will get a reward of Rs 2 lakh from the Health and Welfare Ministry which will be utilized hospital’s development for the improvement of the health care services, said Dr. Joysankar Majumder, Medical Officer In Charge of Tulamura PHC. In previous years, Dr. Majumder added, we utilized it for the improvement of health care services.
The District’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Niru Mohan Jamatia informed the media that Killa, Atharobhola, Garjee and Twaidu PHCs have also won this year's commendation award. Garjee PHC has already won the NQAS Certification for quality primary health care services.
The Central Govt introduced the Kayakalp initiative in May 2015 with the aim of inculcating a culture of sustainable and systematic practices for the improvement of hospital services, Sanitation and Hygiene, Waste Management, Infection Control, Hospital Support Services, and Hygiene Promotion.
In Kayakalp and NQAS, the hospitals have scopes for improving their services to participate in, said District Nodal Officer, Dr. Arjun Saha.
