Udaipur Nov 29: Udaipur, the second largest city in the state, has been facing a steady decline in its importance and infrastructure. The residents of Udaipur have expressed their dissatisfaction with both the previous and current governments, accusing them of neglecting the city's development and contributing to its downfall.
During the tenure of the previous government, significant changes were made that adversely affected the city's status.
The motor stand was relocated from Udaipur city to Rajarbagh, and the district hospital was moved to Tepania. These decisions left Udaipur in a state of darkness, with essential services being shifted away from the city center.
The public had hoped that a change in government would bring about positive developments for Udaipur.
However, their expectations have not been met. The current government has only made improvements to Jagannath Dighi, leaving the common people's complaints unaddressed.
Recently, the office of the Udaipur Sub-Divisional Magistrate was also moved far away from the city, further reducing the city's significance.
According to the locals, the issues that make a city important are gradually disappearing, leading to a decline in demand for Udaipur.
One of the most pressing concerns is the lack of essential services after 8:30 PM. Not a single drug store remains open in Udaipur city, forcing residents to travel to Teparia village, 5 kilometers away, for necessary medicines. This inconvenience has added to the frustration of the local population.
Auto drivers in the city have also voiced their concerns, stating that their business suffers after the evening due to the lack of important establishments in Udaipur.
They recall a time when the city had a district hospital, an office of the Udaipur SDM, and a motor stand in its heart.
However, as these key departments have been moved out, the city has become almost lifeless.
The Sub-divisional Hospital in Udaipur is now merely a namesake. Patients admitted at night are often referred to Tepania due to the lack of medication. This has led to allegations that Udaipur city turns into a dead city after the evening.
The residents are demanding immediate improvements in the services provided at Udaipur Hospital to revive the city's vibrancy. They have sought the intervention of the local minister and MLA, Abhishek Debroy, to initiate other essential services, including the sub-district hospital, to restore Udaipur's former glory.
