Boxanagar, Apr 30: Bijay River at Veluarchar, which was an unexplored natural beauty spot of Tripura, is now becoming a popular tourist destination.
On the Poila Baishakh (April 15 last), a group of youths noticed the unexplored and virgin beauty of nature of the Bijay River at Veluarchar. As it appears to be very common, they took the video as they were enjoying the scenic beauty there and uploaded the video on Facebook. The clip went viral and many people started visiting the area.
“During the last two weeks, many people from different parts of the State are pouring in and taking baths at the river, enjoying the beauty of the surroundings. Prior to the Poila Baishakh, hardly any people could be seen here. But now, the situation is different”, said one of the villagers.
The river is between Bishalgarh Kam Thana and Veluarchar of Boxanagar and flows into the Salda River of Bangladesh.
As the crowd is swelling every day, villagers are sensing earning opportunities. One of the villagers set up a makeshift stall of cold drinks and he is doing a brisk business.
As the ‘unexplored’ Veluarchar is becoming a popular destination for nature lovers, local leaders led by BJP’s Taffajjol Hussain visited the spot on Saturday. Noticing the fun-loving and enthusiastic visitors, he assured that he would make a proposal to the State government to develop the area as a tourist spot.
The local people opined the State government can build a park here and along with Buxnagar Buddha Stupa and Eco Park, the area will emerge as a new destination for the tourists which will benefit the local people economically.
