Agartala, Apr 10: Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region of India (DoNER) G. Kishan Reddy arrived in the state on a two-day visit on Monday.
He was welcomed by Tripura Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Youth Affairs and Sports minister Tinku Roy, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, Secretary of Tourism department U. K. Chakma and Director Tapan Kumar Das at Maharaja Bir Bikram airport, Agartala.
After arriving in the state, the Union Minister accompanied by the officials including Joint Secretary to the Ministry of DoNER Angshuman Dey visited Mata Tripurasundari Temple in Udaipur and offered prayers.
He also reviewed the ongoing rejuvenation and development of amenities in the complex of Tripura Sundari Temple under the PRASHAD scheme.
According to the Union minister, the Pilgrim infrastructure being developed at a cost of Rs 37 crore would enhance the tourists’ experience and boost the tourism sector.
He also visited the Tripura Tourism stall at the airport, interacted with the staff and inspected the rich collection of the souvenirs at the reception desk.
Later in the evening, the Union Minister called on Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha at the latter’s official residence. They had discussions on a wide range of issues including development of the state’s Tourism.
The Union Minister is scheduled to virtually inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects.
The projects include– construction of Skill Development Training Centre at Udaipur Fulkumari in Gomati district, construction of Hostel Building for girls at Dhamma Dipa School and construction of School Building cum Teacher’s Training Centre. The project cost amounts to Rs. 10.14 crore.
He will also virtually inaugurate expansion of Longthorai Valley Sub-Divisional Hospital at Chailengta in Dhalai.
The Union Minister will also hold a review meeting with the senior officials on development works and attend CAPSI conference. His tour programme also included inspection of Agartala- Akhaura rail link project.
