Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to embark on 3-day Tripura visit on Friday

Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia will arrive in Tripura on a three-day visit beginning January 23, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Chowdhury said Scindia would lay foundation stones for several projects funded by the DoNER Ministry during his visit. He said the Union minister would call on Chief Minister Manik Saha and also jointly visit project sites with him.

According to the official itinerary of the Union Minister, Scindia would address a programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. The Union minister will also offer prayers at the Tripura Sundari temple in Udaipur. A multi-storied car parking facility at the temple has been sanctioned by the DoNER Ministry. During his visit to the temple, he will pay visit to the proposed site for the project, said the Minister.

According to the transport minister, Scindia will travel to Kadamtala in North Tripura district on January 24, where he will lay the foundation stone for a cluster management project. He will then visit the Unakoti rock carvings, a heritage site in the Unakoti district, before proceeding to Narikelkunja, where he is scheduled to stay overnight.

Chowdhury said he would be present to receive and accompany the Union minister during the visit at Narikelkunja.

On January 25, Scindia will lay foundation stones for projects under the Matabari tourism circuit development plan at Narikelkunja. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha would participate in the programme virtually from Agartala, said the Minister.

Following the event, the Union minister will proceed to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala and depart for Guwahati, he added.

He said the visit is part of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to support infrastructure development and tourism-related projects in Tripura under the DoNER Ministry.
