
Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol, who arrived in Tripura on Tuesday, chaired a review meeting in Khowai district and called on Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
In the review meeting, he assessed the effective implementation of several ambitious development schemes being carried out by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the meeting, the Union Minister held detailed discussions on key development projects in the district, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and the current status of primary and secondary schools.
Other major schemes reviewed included the VB Gram Ji Yojana, Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme for farmers, solar rooftop installations under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum scheme, and waste treatment and management projects.
District Magistrate Rajat Pant and other officials were present on the occasion.
The Union Minister in a social media post mentioned that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region was established in 2001 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to accelerate the development of the ‘Ashta Lakshmi’ states of the Northeast.
At the time of its establishment, the DoNER ministry had a budget of around Rs. 25,000 crore, which has increased to over Rs. 1 lakh crore under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government continues to implement several long-term and impactful schemes for the overall development of the northeastern states, he pointed out.
The meeting, according to official sources, focused on ensuring the effective implementation of development projects and in facilitating the timely delivery of services to the public.
