Agartala, Apr 11: Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and DoNER G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday assured that he would extend all necessary supports to Tripura for an overall development of the state.
The Union Minister, who virtually inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various projects in presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at the secretariat, also said he would take up the state’s projects pending with the centre to the concerned ministry.
According to the Union Minister, the newly-launched projects would contribute to the state’s growth trajectory.
The projects inaugurated by the Union Minister are- improvement and upgradation of road From Udaipur to Melagarh (project cost Rs. 140 crore) and expansion of Longtharai Valley Sub Divisional at hospital Chailengta (project cost Rs. 8 crore).
He also laid the foundation stone for NEC's projects- construction of School Building Cum Teachers Training Centre at Tripureshwari Shishu Mandir, Ramnagar, Agartala (project cost Rs. 5 crore) and construction of Skill Development Training Centre, Fulkumari, Udaipur (project cost of Rs. 4 crore).
The two projects would benefit 5000 students and create employment opportunities for Yuba Shakti respectively.
After launching the projects, the Union Minister along with the Chief Minister held a review meeting on the implementation status of various projects.
According to the DoNER minister, the new projects would speed up of development engine in the state.
The Union Minister then inspected the much-awaited Agartala- Akhaura rail link project and reviewed the progress.
The Agartala-Akhaura Railway Project is crucial since it reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in strengthening the connectivity.
After the completion of the project, the travel time between Agartala and Kolkata via Dhaka would reduce. Besides, it would play an important role for trade in the region.
The Union Minister visited the zero point (Indo-Bangladesh Border) of Agartala-Akhaura Railway line project and reviewed the progress of Nischintapur railway yard along with the officers from DoNER, NEC, Ministry of Railways, Government Bodies and executing agencies.
He was accompanied by Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik and state’s Transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
