Tension has gripped Monpui area in Jampui Hill after miscreants vandalized property, cutting down trees in local gardens and damaging the signboard of the Mizo Convention.Â
Â
The incident has drawn sharp condemnation from residents, who expressed deep anger over the destruction in one of Tripura’s most scenic and cleanest tourist destinations.
Â
Locals said Jampui Hill has always welcomed visitors warmly, but they urged tourists to respect the environment and community values. “All are welcome in Jampui Hill, which is the cleanest place in Tripura. However, we request our esteemed visitors not to litter, damage nature, or destroy public property. Please respect our culture, norms, and values—the very things we are known for,” community members stated.
Â
The appeal comes as residents fear that repeated acts of vandalism could tarnish the reputation of Jampui Hill, which is celebrated for its natural beauty, hospitality and cultural harmony.
Â
Community leaders emphasized that tourism must go hand in hand with responsibility. “Come, visit, and have fun responsibly,” they added, calling on authorities to take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
Â
The vandalism has sparked discussions on the need for stricter monitoring and awareness campaigns to protect Tripura’s hill tourism hubs, ensuring that visitors enjoy the region without compromising its ecological and cultural integrity.
