Villagers of Bogarchatal area under Kanchanmala ward number 01 in Golaghati Assembly are still relying on a bamboo made bridge to cross a stretch. They said this bamboo bridge is the only means of connectivity for a substantial number of villagers living in the area. Â
According to locals, several interior roads in the constituency remain in poor condition, and in some places temporary bamboo structures have replaced permanent culverts.Â
Residents of Bogarchatal said a bamboo platform has been used for daily commuting in the area for a prolonged period. “We have to depend on a bamboo structure to cross. There have been instances of people slipping and getting injured while using it,” a villager alleged.
Locals claimed they have repeatedly raised the issue with concerned authorities, seeking construction of a concrete culvert to ensure safe movement, particularly during the monsoon. However, they alleged that no concrete steps have been taken so far.
Some villagers also expressed dissatisfaction over what they described as uneven development in the area, stating that interior areas continue to face difficulties related to roads and connectivity.
There was no immediate response from officials of the Public Works Department or the district administration regarding the allegations.
“Basic infrastructure such as roads and bridges is essential for ensuring safe and reliable connectivity in rural areas,” said a villager of Borgachartol area.Â
