Visit five households everyday to keep BJP in power forever, Biplab tells workers

Former Tripura Chief Minister and incumbent Lok Sabha MP from West Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday accorded a rousing reception on his arrival in the home state after being appointed the party’s national general secretary. 

Deb is inducted in the new national office bearers team headed by newly appointed party national president Nitin Nabin. Thousands of party workers gathered at the MBB airport Agartala, as well as the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan where Tripura Pradesh BJP organised a felicitation event. 

Deb’s contribution to BJP rise in Tripura assumes great significance as he led the party from the front to oust the 25-years long Left regime and it was under his leadership the first BJP government was formed in the state. 

Apart from that, Deb has been assigned with multiple organisational tasks in poll-bound states like Haryana, West Bengal, Delhi etc. where his performance caught the attention of the national leadership

According to party insiders, Deb’s appointment to the crucial organisational post came as a big achievement for the entire team of Tripura BJP. 

In his speech, Deb dedicated his achievements as a political functionary to the people of Tripura and the party workers who fought an extensive battle to establish BJP in the state. 

Describing Tripura as his ‘Karmabhumi’, Deb said, “I never forgot Tripura. Each and every party worker of Tripura is very dear to me and they hold a very special place in my heart. The Pristha Pramukhs, Shakti Kendra workers and people of the state made Biplab Kumar Deb.” 

Referring to BJP’s latest electoral success in West Bengal, Deb said, “People of West Bengal thought that Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee can never be ousted from power. The dedication of PM Modi and Amit Bhai Shah’s leadership ended the rule of Trinamool in Bengal. I heard some people are confused about the future. I want to assure you that nothing is there to worry about. PM Modi and Amit Shah will decide what is going to happen.” 

Deb during his speech recalled the party workers such as Nishikanta Chakma, Gour Hari Molson and Shyam Hari Sharma who had been killed during the Left rule. 

“When the Left parties were in power, political murder was an integral part of state politics. Today, the situation has changed drastically. We have lost 11 tribal party workers in the hands of the then ruling party. After assuming power, we tried to help their families but some losses are beyond compensation,” he added. 

Urging the party workers to realise their strengths and capabilities, Deb said, “I want something from all my party workers. No matter what position you hold. Take half an hour to one hour extra from your daily routine and visit five households every day in your area. It is my personal experience, 90 percent of problems get solved when a ruling party worker visits a house. The people of our state are very simple. They are capable of doing their tasks on their own. What they expect from the ruling party is a caring attitude. Do that minumum, BJP will stay in power forever.” 

Elaborating on how party workers should conduct themselves in their localities, Deb said, “Tripura is a positive state. An ideal party worker is a person whom people admire for the individual’s humble behavior and caring attitude for others. Arrogance is your biggest enemy. If Biplab Deb could achieve such a feat from a mofussil place like Jamjuri, all you can also achieve bigger targets. All you need is passion, hope and determination.” 

Later, Deb interacted with the media persons. On being asked about CPIM, Deb said, “Left has no space left in Tripura politics. At the most, they could occupy the space of a strong opposition which is extremely essential and in a democratic set up. I think the opposition parties should keep working keeping this in mind.” 

According to Deb, Left’s revival in Tripura lacks a logical justification. “Why should people vote for the Left? Development, job and GDP growth are not their agenda. Their manifestos are written in a language as if they were releasing a new set of demand drafts. So, I don’t find any logic to vote CPIM back in the state,” Deb claimed. 

On his relations with Tipra Motha supremo and recent political developments between the allies, Deb said, “I do have a very personal relationship with Pradyot Kishore Manikya but that shall never come in the way of the party’s interest. BJP’s interest is greater than that for me. I can take responsibility of what the leaders of our party say but if I am asked about the stand of Tipra Motha MLAs and leaders, this does not come under my prerogative.” 

According to Deb, two leaders had been assigned by the party high command to initiate talks with Tipra Motha amidst the uneasy developments. “Two leaders had been entrusted with the responsibility to hold talks and once they submit their reports, everyone will be able to know what is the status of the talks between BJP and Tipra Motha.”   

Later, Deb visited Mata Tripura Sundari temple to seek blessings at the holy shrine.
