Agartala Jan 14: Only to satisfy own interests, Congress leadership have extended hands in alliance with the Communists said Tripura chief minister Dr Manik here on Saturday as he mocked the opposition over the issue of CPI(M)-Congress alliance in Tripura.
“I was scared and astonished to see how the Congress have joined hands with the CPI-M that is responsible for numerous murders of Congress activists during their 25 years of rule in Tripura”, said Dr Manik Saha.
Reminding the opposition that the CPI(M)-Congress alliance had failed to even open its account in 2021 West Bengal polls, Dr Saha said, “On announcement of similar alliance in West Bengal, Congress leadership in Tripura left the party and joined other political parties and now it is weird how they have joined the Communists”.
“What CPI(M)-Congress is doing in Tripura will never be acceptable for the masses, the voters as for any alliance to succed it should work on the ground and among the workers and supporters of the respective allies and not remain confined in the minds of leaders who are thinking to achieve power”, he added.
Even the Congress supporters have also understood that there is no good in supporting the party, he said.
On being asked of his view on CPI-M Congress and TIPRA Motha alliance, the chief minister said, “I have not heard anything such so far. We believe in working for the people and are reaching out to them everyday while the opposition are busy in moving from one party office to another”.
On opposition political parties allegations of lack of food, water, work electricity and others, the chief minister said, “The Prime Minister has been providing free ration to masses and has extended it further. He himself reached Tripura to take part in ‘Grihapravesh’ of houses provided through PMAY Scheme”.
Dr Saha further said, “The cuddling pictures of CPI(M)-Congress leadership itself proves that democracy is prevailing in Tripura”.
He asked the Congress leadership to call themselves Communists instead of naming them as Congressmen.
