Agartala Nov 02: Tripura state NSS Cell along with State Youth Affairs and Sports Department observed NSS Day, 2022 and held a Seminar on Nasha Mukt Tripura at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here on Wednesday.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp, while Minister YAS, Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury remained present as the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha highlighted Tripura as one of the states with highest number of drug seizures.
He said, “Since 2018 around 700 drug-trafficking vehicles have been seized. A special investigation team has been formed in the state for anti-narcotics operations. About 19 cases have been registered till September 2022”.
He added that the Tripura Police is conducting regular unannounced inspections besides organizing special operations to prevent drug trafficking.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the issue of cannabis cultivation in the state urging upon all the concerned authorities to keep a constant check on the issue and work seriously to achieve the goal of “Nasha Mukt Tripura”.
Dr Saha urged upon the students and youths of the society to stay away from any sort of addiction and focus on their career so that they can contribute in building a strong and healthy Tripura mentioning that “Human Resource” is the greatest strength of a state and country as a whole.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha also lauded the tireless efforts of the NSS volunteers who work with the motto of “Community before Self”.
Greeting the students and NSS volunteers at the program, Minister Tripura Youth Affairs and Sports, Sushanta Chowdhury said, “Not me But You”, the motto of NSS itself suggests that NSS volunteers always places community before self.
He said every year since September 24, 1969 NSS Day is celebrated in the state along with the entire nation with due dignity but because of few issues the department is observing the day on November 02.
Sushanta Chowdhury added, “NSS Day is a celebration to commemorate the tireless efforts of each volunteer towards the welfare of one and all”.
Speaking on “Nasha Mukt Tripura” Chowdhury said, youths of the society should abort all sorts of drug addiction and come forward in social service instead for the betterment of the society.
He further added, the state government, police and other concerned departments are working hard to achieve the goal of “Nasha Mukt Tripura”.
Apart from the Chief Minister and Sports Minister of the state, P K Chakraborty, Secretary YAS Department, Dr Udayan Majumder, Psychiatrist and state prog. Officer, NHM Tripura, Brigadier J P Tiwari, Director, Sainik Welfare, Dr Chitrajit Bhowmik, Associate Professor and SNP, NSS, and other dignitaries remained present at the day’s program.
