School in-charge, teacher held for selling mid-day meal rice

Agartala, May 04: A teacher including the school in-charge of Mohanpur Harendra Nagar School were held on Saturday for allegedly stealing mid-day meal rice and selling it to the local market in Bamutia Kali Bazar.
The incident took place on Saturday morning after the teacher identified as Sandip Saha and the school in-charge – Rabindra Sarkar came to a shop at Bamutia Kali Bazar allegedly to sell the mid-day rice. Suspecting their activity, the locals along with the shopkeeper caught them.
On being asked by the locals, teacher Sandip Das admitted his offense of selling mid-day meal rice to the local market and said that another teacher identified as Rupak Das is also involved with the incident.
On the other hand, the shopkeeper informed that two persons came to his shop to sell the mid-day meal rice.
Later, the locals alarmed the police of Bamutia Out Post, following which police rushed to the shop and lifted the school in-charge Rabindra Sarkar and teacher Sandip Saha from the spot and took them to the police station. Police also seized the mid-day meal rice, which was sold in the market.
