1-Day Workshop on Cyber Security for MSMEs and Women Entrepreneurs held in Tripura

Agartala Sept 22: With an objective to raise awareness and inform women about cyber security while focusing on growing e- business, a one-day workshop on Cyber Security for MSMEs and Women Entrepreneurs was held on Friday under the banner of ‘Cyber Safe East India’.
The workshop cum training program held at the State Guest House was organized by Cuts International with support of US Consulate General Kolkata.
Speaking to the reporters in this context, Cuts International Associate Director Arnab Ganguly said, “With the advancement and widespread adoption of digital technology large scale business and cash transactions are now done on online platforms. With widespread use of digital platforms vulnerabilities and risk of getting prey to fraudulence of various kinds has also increased unprecedentedly”.
Ganguly said, “There are approximately 6 Crore MSMEs, small and medium in India out of which, 30 percent are run by women. This also contributes to 30 percent of the nation’s GDP. During the times of Covid-led pandemic, majority of the MSMEs had to shift their business and cash transactions to online platforms all of a sudden where women especially knew very less about digitalization and its negative impacts. Following which many of them fell prey to various sorts of cyber crimes”.
Therefore, to make them aware of cyber security, such workshops are held in different states across the country, he added.
Mentioning that the workshop is one of the first of its kind in Tripura, Arnab Ganguly said, “Women who are running small and medium business on online mode will be imparted training on digital technologies, online business transactions, confidential data information etc. also, methods to identify the data breach or cyber attacks and ways to combat them will be taught”.
