Belonia, Dec 03: At a time when the mysterious death of two youths at Belonia triggered question over the cause of death, Police on Saturday last detained one Jhutan Chowdhury, resident of Tabla Chowmuhni area under Belonia police station and produced him before the court.

Two youths identified as Abjijit Dey and Ashish Majumder were found lying on the road near Garage Tilla area with serious injuries on Friday night and later they succumbed to their injuries on their way to Agartala GB Hospital.

According to the police, the accused youth Jhutan Chowdhury had confessed his crime and stated that he had killed the two youths by hitting their motorcycle from behind with his car and later he had hit them with an iron rod to kill them due to previous enmity.

Reportedly, the accused Jhutan Chowdhury is the son of SBC Nagar Gram Panchayat Pradhan – Lakhi Chowdhury. It was alleged that the accused’s father Sanjit Chowdhury was attacked by ruling party workers many times earlier, following which a case was registered with the police station, but no necessary action was taken from the police.
