Agartala, Nov 09: As part of the preparations for the ensuing assembly polls, the Tripura State Election Commission on Wednesday published the draft voters’ list.
Addressing a press conference, Chief Electoral officer (CEO), Tripura- Kiran Gitte said, as per the draft electoral rolls published on Wednesday, there are 27,33,891 voters— 13,80,181 males, 13,53,664 females and 46 third genders.
The figure included 10,349 service voters, 14,671 PWD voters and 44,813 voters in 80+ age groups, he said, adding that the number of polling stations in all sixty assembly constituencies is 3328.
He said, Badharghat is the constituency with the highest 60000 plus voters while the lowest 36,000 voters are there at Krishnapur constituency. The final voter list would be published on January 5 next.
The CEO said, the draft electoral rolls are available in all the polling stations along with Tehshil, DM, SDM offices and Election Commission’s website.
Replying to a query, he said as per the Election Commission calendar, Tripura’s election is normally takes place in third week of February. It is expected that the counting of votes would take place in February end.
The State Election Commission, Gitte said, appointed two observers- Pradip Kumar Chakraborty and Tapas Kumar Roy to oversee the ongoing special summary revision. They would look after four districts each.
The CEO said, special camps would be carried out in Class-XII schools for advance enrollment of 17+ youths. Besides, Booth Level Officers of the Election Commission and Booth Level Agents of the political parties would visit door-to-door and identify the 17+ youths.
Replying to a question, he said, rehabilitation of the Bru families is underway. Around 2000 families are yet to be rehabilitated in new locations. Once the process is completed, 100 percent Bru voters would be enrolled, he said.
He said, all the political activities would be closely monitored. In case of any incident, there would be quick response. He said, there are 43 Returning Officers (ROs), 121 AROs and 3328 polling stations.
He said, various voter Awareness programmes are being carried across the state.
