As per the quadripartite agreement signed between the Centre, Government of Tripura, Government of Mizoram and Bru leaders, a total of 3,232 Bru families have been resettled in eight locations so far, an official said on Thursday.
Principal Secretary of Revenue Department Puneet Agarwal in a press conference said, total 37,136 persons of 6,959 families have been targeted for resettlement from seven Relief camps in North Tripura district to twelve new locations identified by the Tripura government.
He said, the Centre has fixed the timeline for shifting of all Bru families by August 31 next. The Bru leaders have submitted list of 4473 families so far and the list for remaining 2486 families is yet to be to be received.
Initially, the Tripura government has identified 12 locations for the Bru resettlement out of which the process is now going on in 8 locations. More one or two locations would be finalized in consultation with the Bru leaders, he added.
The twelve identified locations are- Bongaphapara (L.T. Valley) and Haduklaupara (Ambassa) in Dhalai district, Kaskau (in-situ) of Ambassa and Wainbukcherra- Ranipara of Panisagar in North Tripura, West Kalajhari (Amarpur) in Gomati, Bhandarima- Pushporampara of Kanchanpur, Hamsapara (in-situ) and Khakchang (in-situ) of Panisagar in North Tripura, Ultacherra of Gandacherra in Dhalai district, Gachirampara of Kanchanpur in North Tripura, Shilacherra of Karbook in Gomati and Kala Lawgang of Santirbazar in South Tripura.
According to a press note, the major activities being carried out in such locations included jungle clearance, land leveling and development of land, brick soling of road from main Road to Bru Settlement Site, construction of Internal link road and Brick soling, installation of DTW & SBDTWs, extension of new HT, LT line along with Distribution Transformer (DT), installation of Solar Street Lights, construction of common shelter houses with common kitchen, construction of Common toilet Blocks, construction of dwelling houses, construction of individual toilet for each family, setting up schools, AWCs and Health Sub-Centres.
Meanwhile, the centre has announced comprehensive package for the Bru rehabilitation process.
As per Agreement, the rehabilitated Br families would get one-time Financial Assistance of Rs 4,00,000 per family as Fixed Deposit for 2 years, a piece of land in clusters measuring 30x40 feet for construction of a house, house building assistance of Rs.1,50,000 per family in three equal instalments, Monthly Cash Assistance of Rs.5,000 per family per month for a period of 2 years through DBT, free ration for two years from the date of resettlement in Tripura as per the existing norms, free transportation to move from present temporary camps to the location of resettlement in Tripura, Aadhaar Card and Ration Card, PRTC and ST certificates to the resettled Brus with inclusion of their names in Electoral Rolls, benefits of centrally sponsored schemes at par with other villagers and Eklavya Model Residential School resettlement zones.
